Oh what a horrible thing to happen to a little kit! I really hope the little sweetie pulls through - at least she's finally in capable hands. Please keep us updated about her. I really think it was great for you to post that. I have a 100 lb Newf/Lab mix. Absolute sweetheart who was raised with ferret - he adores them. But he's big and clumsy and well, like you said, still a dog. The ferrets are NEVER left out when I'm not home and play is always supervised. My prior dog - a Border Collie/Boxer mix who was so calm and gentle that for years he worked as a therapy dog at nursing homes and an AIDS hospice - once attacked a young kitten that I had. She wandered near his food dish and he grabbed her by the head and viciously flung her about. She ended up ok - she's now 10 - though her one eye looks different in certain light. But it taught me that an animal is an animal - just like you said - and one can NEVER be too cautious. Laura and The Seattle Seven at http://www.ferretocious.com [Posted in FML issue 5100]
