I have had nearly a dozen ferts over the years, only the very first two were store bought. Byte-me and Nibble-ed were store bought Marshal farms escapees and were my most favorite and least liked but regardless the least liked was treated as well as the best of the lot. Right now I have two rescues from a local shelter. Pete and RePete. Have had them since late summer and they are still adjusting and 'flowering out' from being non perm residents for so very long. Both are about 4 years old and healthy as a bear. Pete lost allot of weight at first and his brother died. Have no real solid clue why he died, was eating like a horse but just lost weight till he died. I thought Pete had the same illness where he also lost a ton of weight but has gained it all back and is fat as that guy on a sleigh. Both have very thick beautiful coats now, and we all play hide and dook allot. Yet they are bitter enemies with each other so I can't let them out at the same time and are kept in separate compartments of a huge cage. That is a real pain but I deal with it. Over time they may bond and I do see some small tolerances developing so hope is not lost. Both are totally white, Pete is a true albino, RePete has black eyes but he is actually whiter than Pete. Go figgure! Hence the names, Pete and RePete. Is hard to tell them apart. Yes, rescues are fine animals and actually the best. Am very happy with these two guys.
