Hi Friends , It is me Jerimiah! Yes indeedy the chocolate spotted ferret boy at Ferret Wise. It is a busy busy time here with all the white stuff on the ground ( and sometimes in here when Mom brings in a tub or two for us)... and the furnace is running to keep us all from getting chilled... but I am telling you about something that happened to make the Holiday Season a little brighter for 3 of our ferret kids. Now it is not that Santa Paws came early cuz he did not get here yet--- but when the shelter Moms reach out to fix something that seems to go wrong-- Now this started waaaay back in the late Spring time when a group of 4 fur kids were dropped off ... One had been adopted right here and then others added to the pot.. When the one arrived back there were 4. SO what the shelter folks did was send the two eldest kids to hospice house and the 2 youngest were here waiting for their special family. In their case we had 12 applications for adoption-- of which Mom said only 2 returned.. and in both cases the folks did NOT have landlord approval to adopt ferrets. That might not seem like a bad thing-- BUT Mom makes a promise to each kid when she adopts them out that they will have a FOREVER HOME, and with out the landlord saying it is okay-- they just might have to find another home or come back to the shelter... sooo.. These kids kept waiting. Meanwhile the shelter folks and hospice Mom spent lots and lots and lots of money trying to get the eldest ferret healthy-- but 4 days after his surgery he lept to rainbow bridge. Now the shelter Moms were very sad -- and finally the remaining elder ferret Kirll moved himself in with Lucky & Harry for sleeptime. Still, during the day he was a lonely kid cuz the old timers just run out of play too early. Now last month they had a board meeting and 2 kids were travelling to a new forever home so they stopped in briefly to have a run before they went back on the road. Well Kirll was in heaven with the young ferrets He ran up & down, sniffed and danced-- it was sad to think he was not going to have a playmate when the kids moved on. This got the Moms to thinking again... they searched for a family again for the two shelter kids who arrived at the same time with the one elder.. another failed adoption attempt as one of the kids Scrappy has a very difficult time dealing with young children. So today this very day the shelter folks decided to give Kirll Christmas early. The Two younger ferrets Napolean & Scrappy were permanently placed at St Gregory's hospice. They made the trip over with Shelter Mom & Dad who were delivering some mysterious boxes for the Holidays -- and lo and behold. Kirll came out to play-- he had been saying ferret prayers for playmates for a while-- there they were his buddies Napolean & Scrappy! What a reunion they all had. Napolean was chattering and he and Kirll ran up and down up and down the hallways, while Scrappy tried his hardest to dig into the kitchen cabinet doors. Now Kirll is no Spring Chicken the fella is pushing 6 years of age... but he played like a kit! Mom and hospice Mom decided this would be the best present ever for Kirll. Now he will have playmates until he has no energy left to play. All the kids at St Gregory's less Vanya are getting on in their ferret days. But there is a brighter spark with a one year old and a 3 year old today. We 'spect to hear more adventures now from St Gregory's house. Welcome to your forever home boys.. Merry Christmas.
