My husband and I had this fight with our fuzzies a few years ago, and
found a solution that works, and has the added benefit of being very
inexpensive. We have a beautiful queen size bed frame that was made by
my Dad, so there was no chance we were going to give it up without a
fight. The furballs, however, liked the box spring as much as we liked
the bed. My husband finally suggested "what about those cardboard
cutting boards you use for sewing stuff? They look to be about the right
size." I figured, what the heck, it's worth a try, and measured the
inside of the frame, where the slats lay that support the box spring.
Sure enough, the cutting board width was almost identical! I went to
the fabric store, and picked up two boards (to cover the length of the
mattress). Ever since, the fuzzies only sleep in the same part of the
bed that we do (but at least fuzzie sized lumps under the sheet are MUCH
easier to find and move at bedtime).
