I also had this just happen to my Tuptee. She had had adrenal surgery about 2 years ago. When she started with signs again ( only a swollen vulva, NO hair loss, she had a gorgeous coat) I got her a series of 3 Lupron shots. Her vulva went down. Then it came up again, and I thought we'd try the Melatonin, since it's working well on my 2 males. When we gave her the implant, it bled, and wouldn't stop. Never imagining non clotting blood,we assumed we nicked a vein. She actually needed stitches for it to stop. All seemed well. She was sleeping a lot, but she was 6 1/2. Her wound healed nicely and I removed the stitches. 2 weeks later, she was dead from anemia. I still can't believe it. She showed no outward signs except the bleeding from the implant. That was a big wake up call for me. All my adrenals are males except her. I am always on the lookout for "blocking" I didn't think there was such a danger with the girls. The vet I took her to also said that the anemia can happen in males with adrenal, too. Scary. Regards, Carol [Posted in FML issue 5038]
