But none of the rescue groups were involved - this was a family who owned the ferrets, giving them to someone else (relationship unknown), who said they could get them to Louisville via Arkansas. When I agreed to take them, I told the Arkansas contact who called me, that if any of them did not look good, I would locate a ferret knowledgeable vet in their area and call with my credit card number for needed treatment. Unfortunately, the person in AR was familiar with dogs & cats but not ferrets and as kind as she was to transport, was not the best judge of a ferrets condition. I believe that for anyone who has a need with a ferert down there, and they make that need known to any of the rescue organizations, we are well prepared through the efforts of SOS & IFC, to be sure they are handled better than this one group who arranged for their own help.
