What a great question!
Just some thoughts. Of course no one can do everything, but usually
there is something that each of us can do. I hope others post ideas to
the fml. I don't have many resources, but I like finding areas in which
I can help.

Go through your pet's items, if there are gently used toys and bedding
you can send to a shelter taking in ferrets. Perhaps when you order your
own supplies you can order an extra bag of food or bottle of Ferretone to
be sent to a shelter.

Get some inexpenseive fleece and cut to make some blakets or sew to
create sleep sacks to send to a shelter.

Cut out something simple in your regular routine and send even a $5
donation to one of the groups helping. It will add up!!

Donate some time at a local shelter. During crisis situations, often
other groups donations and helpers dwindle.

Ask others for help. See if a local pet store will donate items for one
of the intaking shelters.

Have a fun fundraiser dinner. Invite friends for dinner, ask them to
pitch in for a group donation to a shelter.

Perhaps you can sell an item on e-bay or donate items for a yardsale that
is raising money for rescues.

Join a group that is organizing to be prepared for future emergencies.
(Sukie posted the other day about starting such an emergency group)
