Candy writes >do ferrets get gray hairs? Ferrets turning gray is called "roaning" and is fairly common, especially for silver or marked white ferrets. It happens with other colors too. My first ferret Belle was a standard sable when young, and started roaning by 3 years old. By the time she died at 7 1/2, she had quite a bit of silver, especially in her hind quarters. Cassie was a black mitt when young, and is now a medium silver at 4 1/2. I've seen some medium silvers turn almost all white by 6-7 years old.
