Krista,
I premedicate with pediatric benadryl and get rabies for my kids. Why?
Becarus if one nipped or scratched someone and the started screaming
about rabies, I can show the record and the most that happens is that
they are quarentined for 10 days, just like a dog or cat. And because it
is the law, in most areas. We keep saying we want the same protections
for our pets, so we should be willing to follow the same rules for our
pets as other owners. Dogs and cats may also have allergic reactions,
but are still required to have rabies immunizations--unless they have a
vet say that their health precludes it. Who knows what would happen if
such an animal bit someone's child?? Not a risk I would like to take, bu
a necessary one where reactions are serious.

Just my thoughts.
