Early morning at the Rainbow Bridge has Muldoone at his appointed spot awaiting the arrival of a little girl fuzzy named Yogi. The music in the wind had begun to change and the sad sweet melody of the Ferret Promise Song could be heard. Muldoone felt the familiar tingling in his whiskers and he knew another was coming. The music of the wind danced all around him, singing of welcome and loss, of love and longing. It sang of the Great Promise that love was eternal, and it sang of the pain of separation and the sorrow of humans. The flash of light subsided and then Mully heard the unmistakable sounds of ferrety feets coming across the planks of the Bridge; the Moonbeam Express having delivered another ferret whose time on earth had been cut short. Mully steps forward to greet the new arrival. "Welcomes to da Wainbow Bwidge Yogi, I be Mr. Muldoone, officialist Bwidge Gweeter." Muldoone leans forward offering his nose to the little girl ferret. The new arrival sits down and looks all around at her new surroundings. Wow she exclaims dis pwace be purrdy!! I be feelings so gud, how dat happen?" she wanted to know. "It be da Boss, He fixes ebberting dat be wong witf us whens we gets here, we be wike we be whens we be younger. Goes ahead and twy to do sumptin you not be doin for a while." The little girl ferret immediately went into a wild weasel-war-dance and made several leaps into the air. When she came back down, having made a perfect 4-point landing, she was grinning from ear to ear. "My tummy no wonger hurts stated Yog rubbing her belly. I hads a bad tummy ache afore I comes here, she tells Muldoone, but it bees all better now!!" "What would you wike to sees or dooes furstist" Muldoone asks her. Little Yogi sits down to think. Muldoone waits patiently for her answer knowing this is a big decision, different ferrets want to see or do different things when arriving at the Bridge; some want to visit old friends or litter mates, others want to have food they haven't been able to eat for a while maybe because of dental problem or tummy upsets, and others want to explore the untold beauty of the Rainbow Bridge Village. "Mr. Muldoone, I tink I would wike to meet odder fewets who usedded to wiv wif my mom, I hearded her say deir name afore; dey be Chloe-Ann, Hubert, Mindy Lou, Kodi, and Sydney. I not knows dem but maybe dey can tells me more about our mom, I not stay wif her wong enuff to knows her." Mully felt a catch in his throat at the little girl ferret's words, out of all he could introduce her to, she wanted to hear more about her mom from the other fuzzies her mom had loved and cared for before her. That must have been one special mom Muldoone thought to himself, one very special mom. ~~Muldoone~~ Caring for your ferrets at the Rainbow Bridge. [Posted in FML issue 4929]
