I read somewhere, can't remember where now, that when ferrets scoot their
behinds after doing their business, they are doing this to excrete scent
from small glands around the anus. Though they've been descented, there
are still small glands that have the musky odor and they are leaving that
odor behind. That also explains why they go running around to every
litter box or newspaper corner and don't do anything, but still scoot.
