Wolf came home today and ended up going back to be checked on tonight. He was panting. My vet palpated his belly and there was no pain there, his foot was swollen where I found he still had his bandage on, (I didn't even notice the bandage). He was checked over, given pain meds, injectible antibiotic and she made sure he ate (1/2 jar of baby food). His temp is up to 102 and hopefully the foot is causing the problem and not something else. She put cold compress on it which I will do a couple times tonight. Wolf is not out of the woods, he has bruising where the incision on his belly is. My vet said it could be DIC (disseminated intrvascular coagulation) which means he could throw a clot. His biopsies came back and he has the rare form of insolinoma which is invasive. He has it in his mesentery lymph node. I do not know what will happen from here and can only take it a day at a time. One good sign is that he wants to eat and his stools look good. It is all up to Wolf now and I pray he will pull through and have at least a couple of months with a decent quality of life. If not, I know we all did our very best to help him. He is in the top level (single floor, no ramps, etc) of a Martins cage in a nice, extra big warm fleece sleeping bag, next to our bed, so my husband and I can listen for anything unusual. I brought his cagemate in for a minute to visit just so they both know their cagemates are still there for them. Will keep you posted. Eleanor, Donald and the 8 fuzzies [Posted in FML issue 4841]
