Early morning at the Bridge, Muldoone is still snoozing in his hammy when Nanna comes calling. Not bothering to wait until he invited her to come in, Nanna comes stomping in to find Mully asleep in his hammy. Being very quiet, Nanna slips over to Muldoone's alarm clock and resets it to go off in a few minutes and then she waits. As the minutes tick by, Nanna listens to Muldoone snoring in his hammy, oblivious to what is about to happen. The alarm goes off and it is the sound of a hundred angry shrieking cats. Muldoone jumps straight up out of his hammy and lands on the floor with a thud, every hair on his body sticking straight out. "Good morning Muldoone, Nanna tells him with a big smile and then asks him if he doesn't have someplace he is suppose to be, like at the Bridge to greet a new comer. "Yes Nanna, I knows I 'pose to gweet a new 'wival dis mornin buts it be too eawly to be up, I just gots to sweep a wittle bit ago. Maybe you should have thought about that before you and your buddies went on another flannel nightgown raid last night, from what I hear you all had yourselves quite a time, Nanna admonishes him. Now you listen to me Muldoone and by this time Nanna was nose-to-nose with him and when she got in that position, Mully knew she meant business. As soon as you greet the new comer you are to return every single nightgown to the rightful owners so you had better remember which nightgown you took from which ferret. DO YOU HEAR WHAT I AM TELLING YOU MULDOONE??!! Yes Nanna I hears you, turns down da volume some pwease, us guys just be habing some fun. Muldoone sighs Nanna, when are you ever going to learn the nonsense you and your buddies do isn't seen as fun by everyone, especially by the ferret who gets a flannel nightgown nabbed. Muldoone, Muldoone, Muldoone, what am I going to do with you, Nanna trails off. In a big hurry to get out of there and away from Nanna and her scolding, Muldoone flashes her one of his best smiles and tells her, "see Nanna, I be weady to gweet the new fuzzy 'wiving dis mornin so I talks to you watter. Muldoone was almost out the door when Nanna reminded him that he and his buddies were to return all the nightgowns to their rightful owners as soon as he was done greeting the new comer. DO YOU HEAR ME MULDOONE, Nanna screeched at him. Yes Nanna, I hears you mumbled Mully and out the door he went heading for the Bridge. Actually he would have headed almost anywhere at that moment to escape Nanna and the scolding she was giving him. Geeze, Mully thinks to himself, dat Nanna can sur get in a huff. Arriving at the Bridge, Muldoone can't help but notice the beautiful colors streaking across the sky. Hearing the sounds of chirping birds, smelling the sweet scent of flowers in bloom, hearing the gurgling brooks and streams, he had to admit, this was a pretty neat place. Still he couldn't help but admit he would gladly give all that up to be back on earth with his hooman-beans. The wind begins to pick up and Muldoone felt the same familiar warm gentle breeze swirling around him and he knew it was time. The breeze swirled and the sky flashed with beautiful hues of light that matched the colors of the rainbow from start to finish and back again. All was quiet again and then the sound of ferret feet could be heard coming across the Bridge. Muldoone immediately stepped out to greet the new arrival. "Welcomes to da Wainbow Bwidge Pepper, I be Mr. Muldoone, officialist Bwidge Gweeter. Hey, how you knows my name the new comer demanded to know. Uh, uh, well it be my job to knows yur name and it my job to gweet you whens you get here explained Muldoone. Do you know all da fewets dat wives here asked Pepper. Well, I knows a wot of em and deir names but if you wooking for someone if you tells me deir name I can helps you finds dem. I be wooking for my fur-brudder Wucky and my fur-sistur Allie Pepper tells Muldoone. Okay, gibe me a minute to wook dem up and see where dey be." The next thing Mully knows, he is laying flat on his back with ferrety feets going across his face. He is trying to roll out of the way of all those feet and meanwhile he hears giggling, laughing, weasel war sounds, and dooking like he had not heard in a long time. PEPPER!! PEPPER, I CAN'T BELIEVE IT IS YOU he hears. HOW ARE DA FOLKS he hears from another ferret. When there were no more feet running across his face, Mully gets up and attempts to brush the dirt from his fur and he hears laughter coming from a bush. The new arrival and the other 2 ferrets were still weasel-war dancing and whooping it up. Going over to the bush, he parts a few of the branches and peeks in and who does he see? None other than Nanna and she was obviously enjoying the scene and something told Muldoone she enjoyed seeing his with ferrety feet tracks going across his face. Looking back over to the reunion scene the 3 fuzzies were still going at it; hugs, giggles, weasel war dancing, and it looked like it might continue for a while. Nanna stepped out from the bush with a sweet gentle smile on her face watching the reunion of the fuzzies. "You know Muldoone, Nanna began, it is sad anytime a fuzzy has to come here, it is sad when any pet has to come here, but to come here and be reunited with your cage mate or best buddy, it makes it little easier don't you think. Yes Nanna, 'cpet when I comes here, I not know any odder fewet. I be scard and wanted to goes home. Yes Muldoone, I remember, several of us were very concerned about you. You were a young ferret, in your prime, you were not sick, and if not for the accident, you would have had many days with your hooman-bean family. Muldoone dropped his head and Nanna saw a big tear glistening in the fur on his face. Nanna, I still misses my familee a wot. I been here a wong time it seem wike but I 'member how my mom holds me and scritchs my chin and wubbs my ears, I 'member how happy I was and how safe I feels wif her. I goes to the weflecting pond and peeks in on her. She habe odder fewets but I still hear her say my name to does fewets and she tells dem 'bout da Wainbow Bwidge. Nanna, you tink my hooman-bean mom know I gots a 'portant job here, Muldoone asks Nanna. I don't have any idea if she does or not Nanna gently tells him but I am certain she remembers what a lively fuzzbutt you were and you have certainly lived up to that since you arrived here. Muldoone begins Nanna, it looks like this reunion party could continue for a while, I will stay here and keep an eye on things and I suggest you and your buddies get busy on returning the nightgowns you all nabbed. Awww shucks Nanna, I was hoping you forgets bout dat. Not a chance Muldoone, Nanna informs him, not a chance. [Posted in FML issue 4813]
