Early morning at the Bridge has Muldoone scurrying around getting himself together. "I gots three gweetings to dooes, dis be a busy morning for me." Out the door and off to the Bridge Mully heads to greet the new comers. Arriving at the Bridge and taking his appointed spot, Muldoone senses the warm gentle breeze beginning to blow. There was always a breeze that blew just before an arrival, a soft warm breeze that danced through his whiskers and softly and lovingly caressed the backs of his ears just like his hooman-mom used to do for him, a breeze that contained the same warm peaceful sensation he got every time his human held him and scritched under his chin for him. Mully let the breeze dance across his nose and in his whiskers as he closed his eyes, feeling a special sadness for the fuzzies that would be arriving shortly. He felt sad for the hooman-beans that were left on earth with an aching heart along with fuzzy friends that were left behind when a cage-mate or best buddy lost the battle and had to come here. Hearing ferrety feets coming across the Bridge, first to arrive was a very handsome sable ferret named Dozer. Muldoone immediately stepped out to greet the new arrival. "Welcomes to da Wainbow Bwidge, I be Mr. Muldoone, officialist Bwidge gweeter. Hello Mr. Muldoone" Dozer says and offers his nose in a friendly greeting. Dozer sits down and looks all around at his new surroundings. As far as the eye could see, everything a ferret could possibly want was there; hammies hanging in trees, hanging in bushes, hammies hanging from frames, and even hammies that seemed to be suspended from the clouds. Tubes of every size, shape, and color ran everywhere. He could hear the babbling 'Tone streams, treat dispensers dotted the landscape, and best of all there were angels everywhere. Angels sitting and holding fuzzies, angels brushing fuzzies, angels giving chin scritches, angels keeping a watchful eye on kit-age fuzzies that were blissfully asleep in their hammies. Breaking the silence, Mully begins to speak, "Dozer, your mom sends your a special message, she say to tell you dat she woves you bery much and she bery sworry you hads to come here, she say you be in an accident. Dozer dropped his head didn't speak for several minutes. Dat be right Mr. Muldoone, I be in an accident, it be too early for me to comes here yet. I missess my mom and Chompie a wot. Dozer, your familee back on earf be weally sworry bout what happens to you and hopes you not be mad at dem. No Mr. Muldoone, I not be mads at dem but I be sad dat I be away from dem and away from my fur-brudder Chompie." Carefully watching Dozer's face as he was speaking, Mully decided the new comer might be a special case for Mz. SunnyFerret. Mz. SunnyFerret was a very special ferret that lived at the Rainbow Bridge and from time to time there were cases that came in that needed the extra care she seemed to be so blessed to give. Muldoone thought back to a very special case that came in involving 3 ferrets that didn't have a name and they were put down because one of them bit a shelter employee. Buddy, Elsa, and Webster spent a few months under the watchful eye of Mz. SunnyFerret and last he had heard they were doing wonderfully and had made friends with many of the fuzzies who lived at the Bridge. By sending Dozer to stay with Mz. SunnyFerret, she could help him to understand the accident and his unexpectedly arriving at the Bridge. "Dozer begins Muldoone, you be goin to stay wif a special fewet waddy name of Mz. SunnyFewet. She be a neat fewet and she takes gud cares of you and she helps you understand what happened." Looking down the path, Mully could see Mz. SunnyFerret approaching, Nanna must have alerted her that she would be needed for one of the new arrivals. Exchanging one last nose greeting with Dozer, Mully tells him that he will be fine, he will be in the best of care. [Posted in FML issue 4811]
