I'm sitting here early in the morning reading this and my mind is not
quite awake yet, so if this has already been brought up, forgive me
please.

Dogs and Cats and even some Birds are registered. Their parentage,
health and breeding closely tracked and recorded. Why not do that with
ferrets? (or does someone do that already and I just don't know). The
"farms" would love it, think how much more they could charge for a
"registered" ferret. And we could track health issues like insuloma,
deafness, and all the other icky things our babies seem to get as a
matter of course. Then, long term, the breeders could begin to weed out
those unhealthy lines (through neuter and spay). To my sleep deprived
mind this sounds like a wonderful and very easily doable solution. At
the very least it's got to be a good start.
