It is merely a simple SQ injection over the shoulder blades area. Most ferrets can be distracted with a treat (Nutical, ferretone, baby food, etc) while the injection is giving. I gave 4 implants today with no problems, and my 3 personnel ferrets all have them. The implant then releases melatonin over the next 3-4 months.
