Lyrics (ureachable star): another "Man of la Mancha" freak! Wonderful show based on the marvelous novel by Cervantes, if memory serves. I was so taken by it off-Broadway on a school trip in my junior year or high school that I almost got left behind in the city! Tears streaming down my face I approached an usher who directed me to the outside door next to the stage door, then talked with the principals. Bernice Massey (Aldonza/Dulcinea) was darling to me. Sadly I can't recall who placed Sancho but he was funny and sweet. I felt sorry for the poor lead; he was concerned that he hadn't been able to give it his all because he'd sung an opera the night before but he was marvelous despite that. Gosh, that would be about 38 or 39 years ago now. There is something of windmill charging in Mornie's great scalings of the desks and bureaus here at home, and I can certainly think of past abused ferrets who changed to Dulcinea. We have a couple of Sanchos right now, while Whizbang is more of the wise and diplomatic priest in the play. [Posted in FML issue 4698]
