Ferret found in Queens, NY. I am posting this for the person who found it, and have permission to do so. If you lost a ferret in the past 2-3 days (it was in excellent condition and is very friendly) please call Joanne 718.821.3277 to identify. You will be asked for identifying info--there was something specific about this baby that Joanne will require the owner to identify before releasing the ferret. It's being well cared for, but she is unable to keep it long-term. If the owner isn't found in the next 5-7 days she'll be turning the ferret over to Joanne Dreeben at the Yonkers Shelter. If you are interested in adopting the ferret, please contact Joanne Dreeben, as Joanne the current caretaker wants any prospective new family screened. Joanne who currently has the ferret will be spending the next few days knocking on doors in the area the ferret was found to see if anyone lost it. Also, she is aware of CACC/NYC's policy on ferrets, and will not turn it in to them. Please do not call her unless you are the person who lost the ferret. Anne's note--I am amazed at how wonderful the lady who found the ferret is. She went online to find out how to care for it, bought food, treats, litter, you name it. She loves the ferret, but feels she can't manage the financial responsibility for it, and she has a large dog who is not happy about the new houseguest. Anne [Posted in FML issue 4710]
