Hi All, I just relocated to southeast Charlotte, NC (Ballantyne area) from Chicago, and wondered if anyone can personally recommend an experienced ferret knowledgeable Vet in this area. My little trooper Frances is almost seven, and has been through ECE, adrenal disease, and a benign tumor resulting in the removal of one of her tiny toes (I think on that one she had surgery envy after I had a bunion removed!). At her last check-up, her vet wanted to keep an eye on some elevated liver functions and a pronounced heart arythmia (ongoing since she was a kit). She is very tiny (1 pound, 3 ounces), so I am looking for someone who really has a lot of experience with ferrets. Her last Vet, who was wonderful, was marveling at having performed surgery on such a tiny fert. I have been referred to the Carolina Vet Specialists in Huntersville (by a nice girl at with ferrets at a pet shop there), which is about a half hour away from me, who have exotic Vets on staff, as well as a 24-hour emergency on-call exotic Vet (which is very comforting to know). I don't mind the driving distance for a good Vet, but would appreciate any feedback regarding that clinic or anything closer. You may email me personally with any ideas/experiences/recommendations, etc. Thanks, Nora & Frances (enjoying the weather!) [log in to unmask] [Posted in FML issue 4671]
