For those of you who haven't heard, in July Chris Mathis (founding member of the Pacific Ferret Shelter Network and Chairperson of the Oregon Ferret Shelter), her daughter Samantha, and her deceased grandson David, were in a serious car crash. You can find the details at http://www.ferretnet.org/accident.html To help raise money for the Mathis' medical expenses, Elle Hayes-Cook made a beautiful quilt to raffle. She's even wants to add appliques of the winning family's ferrets to the quilt. We will be announcing the winner of the raffle at the ferret show in November. There's about a month left to buy tickets. The Mathis family has openned their hearts and homes (Their house is often the pre- and post-party location for Portland events) to any of us that they've met, and have been an invaluable source of advice and direction for many of us. Our shelter would not be anywhere near where it is today without them. Please help them out by buying a few raffle tickets ($2 each, 3 for $5) through the PFSN website (http://www.ferretnet.org/quiltraffle.html) and tell any of your friends that might be interested. Even if you're not interested in the quilt for yourself, it would make a great gift and the donation would help one of the kindest families I know. Thank you.
