I would like to make everyone aware of the Emergency Animal Rescue Service, a wonderful organization that has saved more than 10,000 animals in more than 40 major disasters over the past 15 years. It relies on a national network of certified volunteers who work with local, regional, state and national agencies to help animals during and after a disaster. Its website, www.uan.org/ears, has extensive information about how to prepare for an emergency or an evacuation, stories about animal rescues and testimonials, and the many ways you can personally help save animals.
