Hello there. We have a very sick little girl named Lucky Charm and she has been diagnosed with toxoplasmosis. We rescued her back in November, so I don't really know her previous history. I know when we first got her, she spent the first 4 days in the hospital with a severe case of ECE. She also has an incomplete spay which doesn't help matters. Now, she has been hospitalized since Thursday with Toxoplasmosis. Mind you, we have other ferrets in the house and the vet said that it isn't likely that they will get it or have it. I can't hardly find any information on this and it is perplexing me. I know they don't eat raw meat, they eat and love totally ferret. And we don't have any cats, so it isn't that either. If anyone could please send me some information, I would greatly appreciate it. She is about 3 years old from what the vet said and by her teeth. I know that we will have to isolate her for awhile once she comes home, but my worry is that one of the other ferrets she has claimed to be her baby. She (Mocha) has been depressed and not eating and playing like she normally does since Lucky has been in the hospital. I brought a blanket back with Lucky's scent on it and she seemed to do a little better. I am not even sure if I should have done that, but at the time, I had to think of Mocha too and her missing Lucky. I would appreciate any help and information on this matter. My thoughts to all of those sick and healthy ferts. Thanks so much, Kym & The Fiesty Ferrets [Posted in FML issue 4614]
