Today here in Richmond we had a most unusual event where two spent hurricanes reduced to tropical depressions collided to make one storm which came over our city. Here where I live we got almost 11 inches of rain in 6 hours. I drove home after 5 PM and it took 45 minutes for a 20 minute commute. Rain was blasting so very hard cars were washed off the interstate people in them and all. When I got home the first thing was to check my house which was fine, but Byte-me came to me noticeably worried. One learns to 'speak' ferret language or at least understand what the animal is telling you. Byte-me was very worried with the wind and rain in absolute torrents. I picked her up and she calmed down almost instantly thinking that I was home and would take care of all this danger. How little she knows but again how much she did know. That little animal has been here in many many heavy rain storms and it never bothered her in the least, but this one, the one that destroyed an entire city in only a couple hours, got to her so she was very afraid and fearful. My touch was all it took to bring her back down calm again but how did she know this was such a devastating weather anomaly? Who knows. But animals know earth quakes before they happen and Byte-me knew this flood rain was something to be afraid of. Such a good little animal. Gordon and Byte-me [Posted in FML issue 4621]
