Hi, My name is Jennifer and my little girl's name is Julia. She is a 10 month old, deaf, and very sweet ferret. She is my baby and my angel. Julia takes on the role of being the groomer to her 3 brothers and 1 sister, and it has gotten her into trouble. She began some projectile vomiting yesterday afternoon, I went to work last night, and when I got home this morning, she was a little dehydrated, and she had a "spaced out" look in her eyes. She has been drinking, but won't eat anything. With this, I took her to the vet at Falls Road. He did x-rays and it showed an obstruction that is causing her intestines to be very dilated, and it appears to be long on the x-ray. The vet suggested surgery, and because I can't afford the $800-$1500 estimated for surgery, I had to opt to try a barium series first. I only have $210 on a credit card to pay for the fluids, bloodwork, and x-rays, and my mom is loaning me $150 to pay for the barium series. I have called friends and family, and I have only gotten in contact with one person able to give me money, and she can give me $100. I am a volunteer firefighter, and a new nurse, too new to have saved enough money with paying all the bills accrued during nursing school. I am desperate, I love my little girl so much. I applied for the "care card" at the vets, but was declined, and so at the suggestion of the vet, I am in the process of contacting local rescues to try to offer fostering or volunteering in exchange for some help with the cost of having Julia's surgery done. One of the rescues I called suggested that I post on here, and explain my situation. If anyone can help, I am willing to offer my help for things in return. Please help if you can, and if not, please pray that the barium series works for my Julia. Thanks for considering. Jennifer Hill [log in to unmask] 443-829-6654 [Posted in FML issue 4582]
