Hello my dear friends! i hope all is well with you. We had no adoptions this week, but there were no new ferrets either :) Timbit the stoat may be a long tailed weasel. He's gained a lot of weight since being with mommie. he came in at 155 grams and is now 172 grams. it could also be that mommie just likes to fatten up all the kids in the house, no one is sure yet. mommie is still looking for an appropriate home for him and he may go to the zoo for their outreach program. he really needs space to run, trees to climb and holes to dig. he's been playful with mommie and war dances, "dooks" and nips just like a baby ferret. we're all keeping our fingers crossed that the zoo will be equipped to take him. The Ministry of Natural Resources will hopefully be getting involved to help find out where both stoats came from. the shelter ran into some problems this week. they depend on the Pride Toonie Drive every year to bring in at least $1,000 but this year, the Toonie Drive was cancelled and their bank account is down to zero. mommie posted to the shelter's e-group for help with prizes to do a raffle and "spin the wheel" at Pride to raise funds. Some members asked their places of work for donations of product to help out. mommie was surprised to get donations of 30 baseball hats from GFT Entertainment, 2 Gibson guitar t-shirts from Yorkville Sound & some retro candy and a Future Shop gift certificate from Aggresive Metal! Mommie is still hoping some of the other members will be able to help out too. auntie Olympia came by Friday night to pick up the shelter's laundry. she also decided to take all the hammocks out of cages (leaving the ferts bed-less!). As she took out hammocks, she let each ferret run for a little while. when she left, she forgot to close Islay's cage door. At about midnight, a huge CRASH came from the ferret room, waking auntie Trish out of a dead sleep. She thought it was a huge bumbling ghost in the ferret room so she hopped outta bed and went to investigate! Islay had knocked down everything she could and there was a HUGE puddle of Tone on the floor that she was happily licking up. Auntie Trish put her back to bed and came downstairs to fill mommie in on the noise. Have a great week my friends!
