I think I may have left my guys in their condo a little too long for their liking. LOL During the winter I keep my guys in the living room, with the heater, for warmth, and take them to the playroom during the day. Since it's unheated, they don't stay there long, and tend to get too much "cage time". I didn't realize how bad this had gotten, in Brownies opinion, until this morning. It was supposed to get into the 70's today, so I took the fuzzies down to the play room for the day, before I left for work. The play room is down a short hallway, it takes about 2 minutes to get everyone in their basket (five is too many to hold onto all at once) and down the hall. I had the basket on my hip, reaching for the door while simultaneously trying to keep Brownie from leaping out. I grabbed for the door handle and he leaped from the basket onto the floor and ran like crazy back down the hall. I did what any sensible person would do (ya right). I put the basket containing the other four ferrets on the floor and chased the escapee. Now I have five ferrets running amuck throughout the house, thinking what a great game we were playing. I finally got everyone back in the basket and into the playroom. Late for work, but with a good laugh to start the day. You just can't beat a ferret for unbridled enthusiasm and just plain joy for life. Oh, and just to be extra special fun, guess who was innocently waiting "in the basket" when I got home? Yep, Mr. Instigator himself, Brownie! Little pooper. I sure do love these guys. Nothing like a ferret climbing up your pant leg at the end of a day to make you smile. (Don't worry, they get "out" time every single day, and they stay out until they ask to go back to their nice warm condo). [Posted in FML issue 4414]
