As usual, Bob C's advice is just wonderful. I am saving it for future reference. Being a lab tech (human type), I agree with his remarks about weighing urine and recording weight and output when they are sick - my vet really appreciates my careful records - she can base her decisions on facts, not guesses. I would like to mention a great digital scale I found at Walmart two years ago - I just love it, it is perfect for my fuzzies. The brand name is "Good Cook" and it is only 5 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches - sounds small, but I have weighed a dozen ferrets in it, and they fit just fine. It "tares", and weighs in lbs/oz. or grams/kg, up to 5 lb 4 oz. (2400 g), and was only about $30 !!! I have compared it to my vet's scale (weigh 'em at home then at the vet's) and it is right on the money. It uses a 9 volt battery. The tray is easily removed to clean. A dab of Nutri-cal or a few drops of Ferretone keeps them in it and still enough to get their weight. The manufacturer is Bradshaw International, out of Rancho Cucamonga, Ca, 91730 (and yes, it is a real place in Calif.) .... [Posted in FML issue 4406]
