The Massachusetts Ferret Friends, which has been going through a re-organization for the past several months, is back "in business"... no pun intended. For those of you in Massachusetts who are or were a member of MaFF, we would like to invite you to visit our website, http://maferrets.org, to see a list of our new Board of Directors and to get information on our next General Meeting to be held in February. We are very excited about the "new MaFF", which will still work under the same Mission Statement - dedicated to education, outreach, and shelter to benefit the domestic ferret. Our goal for the coming year will be to provide a place where ferret lovers can enjoy the fellowship of each other while providing for the needs of ferrets in Massachusetts. As is the case in most states, we are short on shelters, foster homes and hospices for our ferrets. There are not enough shelters to handle the abandoned and surrendered ferrets. The few shelters that we do have are overcrowded with huge waiting lists. The foster homes are full. And, we have no designated hospices. Sound familiar? Many town/city rescues are still in need of good up-to-date information on the care and handling of ferrets. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to extend an invitation to anyone interested in attending our next meeting to set aside February 5th and join us for our General Meeting. There will be a regular business meeting followed by our "2003 Fuzzy Valentine Contest". Again, please check the website for detailed information on time, location and contest. I look forward to seeing many familiar faces as well as some new faces. Phyllis M.
