Well Greetings and, "Good morning FML!!" The question was >Sneak (3 year male sable) "expels air" while around her. Hissing maybe? OK to the serious question, Ferret hissing. Ferrets hiss from time to time to equalise their ballast tanks, you can tell when they are "off balance", they dook much more and tend to dance off to the left. If you don't hear the occasional "hiss" I would seek the advice of a qualified ferret mechanic. You might have a seized Hiss valve. Could lead to "Circular hising syndrome" where the ferret will continue to dook and dance off into a wall or worse . Samson (long live the great one) our oversized male had several hissing valve problems, sometimes he would get all excited and starting dooking and dancing off and would bounce off the wall then dook and dance off down the hall then soon he would come back in "Hissing mode" dancing thru the rest of the room before coming to a stop.... on the serious side, in nature a ferret will hiss to signal another animal or another ferret to "Stay away, keep your distance punk!!!" since they are not social animals and prefer to be alone. In our demesticated (SP) ferrets the hiss is used to get attention or to signal others to "join into the dance". Death Adder (Mark) [Posted in FML issue 4352]
