It has been awhile since an update on the Titusville kids, so we though we'd send one. Please feel free to pas this on to anyone interested.. We currently have 45 of the Titusville bunch still at our shelter which brings our total inhabitants to 74. Time has passed so quickly that it is hard to believe that 10 weeks have already passed since the rescue in Titusville. The love these ferrets have has only grown along with many of their energy levels! :) In total, since the beginning, we have said good-bye to 5 of the Titusville kids. 1 has aggressive Lymphoma, 1 advance liver disease, 1 renal disease, and the other 2 were just very old. We were thankful to have know each one and can only hope we gave them an abundance of what they had been missing for so long. We have had 8 dentals done on those with terrible teeth that all look and eat much better now. Our first adrenal surgery on this group was successful and included a mass being removed from his liver as well as a growth removed from his rectum. Jasper (#104) has recovered well. However, he does appear to have Insulinoma even though the pancreas looked fine during surgery. he loves his Prednisone though, so we are thankful for that. We have three in this group thus far diagnosed with Insulinoma. All three are doing well, eating on their own, and loving their pred. The infamous Jaws (#15) is doing great. His deformed ear (from mites) is much less painful, although he hates it being messed with (ie cleaned.) His nipping has decreased dramatically and is almost non-existent. he is a toy hoarder and does not like to share with others, but has blossomed onto a very beautiful, smart ferret that is a joy to watch. Our fear biter that was adopted by a member is also improving. She still bites hard if she gets her mom, but is much less scared and is getting more comfortable in her new home. Sabie (her new name) loves the other ferrets she lives with and loves her toys!! Our plans are for three others to have adrenal surgery as well as have two put on Lupron. We continue to thank all of those still following the effort and still lending support in various ways. For those that have asked about supplies, we can use paper towels, trash bags, fabric softener, Ferretone, and items to use for ebay/raffles. Financial donations to our vet are also appreciated and needed. we also have a paypal address to send funds to. All of that info can be found on our web-site, or e-mail me privately. There is never enough thanks to be given to everyone on this list and everywhere that have helped. We do thank you and do appreciate it!! If anyone has donated items/funds and has not received a tax receipt and needs one- please e-mail off list me and let me know and I'll be sure to get one out ASAP. If anyone lives in the local area, we will have an informational table set up at this weekend's Pet Fair in Loch haven Park. So if you are in town and there- stop in and say hi!!
