All the computers in the Omaha branch of our office have both AVG Anti-Virus and Norton Anti-Virus. I have found that AVG will identifiy and quarantine obscure viruses that the major Anti-Virus software doesn't even have documentation on. Norton Anti-Virus is a powerful and well-built software, but I LOVE AVG!! I, too, have truly liked AVG HOWEVER I must warn; you, that running more than one anti-virus program at a time can cause major meltdowns. I was running AVG and Norton 2002 together quite successfully. This year I decided to upgrade both. Major mistake. Norton 2004 and AVG caused my computer to totally crash. Now, I know a fair amount about computers but this mess I was completely unable to fix. I wound up having to take my computer into the "shop"... something I've never had to do in the 15+ years I've been using/playing with computers. The techie made me make a choice between Norton and AVG. I chose Norton as I've found that AVG does get the oddball virus/trojan/worm but does miss many that Norton does cover. Go figure. My suggestion? Pick one good anti-virus; one good firewall (i.e. Norton or ZoneAlarm tho' ZoneAlarm does not work well with Norton); and one spyware such as SpyBot. You can find all of these (SpyBot is a freebie) at www.CDNET.com. Barb and her 4 whirling dervishes...Hope, Kate, Cher and Tess [Moderator's note: Thanks, everyone, for the tips.
