Dear FMLers. Ok here is my three cents worth on Angora ferrets!!! Theys the best. I had one Angora Albino named Saber. Saber was from Sweden. He did bite a bit when we first got him but after I "talked to him" about it he stopped. Well, ok ok so he did bite my wife several times (He WAS HER ferret!!!) but after he and I had a close encounter of the biting kind he stopped biting me. ie, I bit him back!!! He was our Intelifret. He was a very big, very lovable, and very, very smart furrbrat!!! He used to figure out how things worked and then he'd teach the other frets how to make it work!! Honor bright, he did!!! He was the one that found out how to climb up on the covered litter box and open a drawer under the vanity top and then go thru the drawer and up onto the top of the vanity. There he proceeded to dump all of mama's cosmetics onto the floor. Mama and I heard the thump of something hitting the wall in our bedroom one day. I went to investigate, and as I entered the room I saw one of the lil girls running away with a blush brush in her mouth. I turned the corner and there on the vanity was Saber looking down on the havoc he had wrought. He looked up and seen me and quick as can be he was down, thru the drawer and back on the floor. He looked at me with them big red eyes as if to say, "YOU didn't see that did you popa"? I answered, "Yes I did Saber". He was one of the unforgetable ferrets to say the least. He used to teach the other frets how to open the cage latches. Oh yes He did!! He also loved the computer. He'd set up in the chair and watch the words on the screen. In fact I have told the tale about how I named the hard drive of our first computer "Ferret Face" as a result of Saber having his face in the way while I tried to program the new hard drive in our very first computer. (BTW, I am writing this on Ferret face 4). Saber wasn't a sickly or ill ferret. He died at the age of 7 years and about nine months old. He died of a heart attack probably due to Cardio-Myopathy. (enlargement of the heart). Our vet said alot of the big boys have big hearts. He was perhaps one of the all time ferrets of my life. I miss our big white whiley boy. I would love to have another Angora, but it would have to be an albino. Hey ya gotta love 'em, Theys frets!!! Fred Hurd After All It Is for The Ferrets!!! [Posted in FML issue 4330]
