Hi Patty,
You mentioned neural crest cells possibly be involoved in adrenal gland
disease.  The neural crest cells make up the adrenal medulla.  The
adrenal cortex is where the adrenal gland disease is coming from.  I
have had just 1 case where the pathology report came back indicating
the adrenal medulla was involved (ie.a pheochromocytoma).
 
The genetic possibility is with a defect in the tumor suppressor gene.
This has not been looked in to yet, but may be involoved in adrenal
problems and insulinoma.  Dr Cathy Johnson-Delany in Seattle is trying
to look into that possibility.
