Hello shelter operators, I have been asked to supply some statistics to a journalist that is interested in writing about the number of ferrets surrendered to our rescues due to moving as well as ferrets that have been left behind when their owners move away. If you would please be so kind to provide me with the following information, I will compile it all and pass it on to the author of the article. Hopefully, the online ferret community will be able to bring some awareness to the fact that ferrets, and therefore, ferret shelters, are affected by no pet housing. Once completed, the article will be available on www.petsandapartments.com. 1. Shelter name and location Between September 1, 2002 and September 1, 2003: 2. Total number of ferrets surrendered to your organization 3. Total number of ferrets surrendered to your organization because the owners were moving to no pet housing. (Please do not include ferrets that were surrendered because the owners moved to a no ferret zone, like California.) 4. Total ferrets surrendered to your organization because the landlord/property management company found out the tenants owned ferrets and gave an ultimatum - the ferrets go, or the owners are out of a home. 5. Total number of ferrets obtained by your organization because they were left behind when their owners moved away. Also, if you have any good/bad stories about any of the abandoned or surrendered ferrets, please include those as well. Please email all responses to [log in to unmask] If possible, please send all responses by October 30. Thank you for your cooperation! Sincerely, Shelby Kimura [Posted in FML issue 4307]
