Dooks All ~!~! Portland, Oregon has a LOT to offer for a future symposium. First of all, the local light rail (MAX) now goes directly to the airport (PDX). The fares are very reasonable and you can even get day passes. The rail and bus stations (AMTRAK) is also just a stones through from downtown and the MAX to the convention area. The MAX even goes to the area of the Convention Center and the area from the Lloyd Center / Convention Center to downtown are in the FARELESS SQUARE - No charge to travel for shopping, touring, restaurants, or visits to one of the brew pubs. Remember, this is Portland, thousands of micro-brews are available. Some of the best steak, seafood, and ethnic restaurants can be found within walking distance downtown. For those whose tastes run to Asian, the China Town section, also within blocks. Not to mention the Rose Garden Arena just a few blocks away - sports or concerts depending on when you come. Within 2 miles of the Convention Center area (on the MAX line) are 2 large shopping malls for those who are interested. There are also several major hotels within walking distance. The BEST reason af all? The fact that there are dozens of PFSN volunteers here that would love to help make it a memorable event. C'mon Symposium Committee - - give us an idea of what your requirements may be and let us do our stuff ~! I can get ya the links and info on any logistical requirements you may have.
