Happy Monday everyone! Wondering if anyone out there might have some insight for me... My 5 yr. old Snowy was diagnosed with insulinoma this past March and now receives 1mL (10cc) of prednisolone every morning. Up until this time and for seveal months thereafter, Snowy was consistently weighing in at 2.25# and now he's a whopping 3.1# and still growing!!!! Every time I look around, he's munching away at his food and I've also noticed I'm having to buy more food more often. I'm beginning to think he may need to see a counselor to address his "emotional eating" problem, may which may have resulted from the many recent changes he's been put through recently (i.e. long distance move, new climate, new home with new fuzzies, etc..) Has anyone else had this experience with their fuzzies who are on prednisolone or know if weight gain is a natural side effect of this drug? I've looked up the drug but haven't found "weight gain" under side effects so I'm a bit concerned. My worst fear is that there could be a growth inside that is causing this extra poundage but even so, can that be seen on an X-ray? Should I be rushing Snowy to his doctor? Something else I'm curious about... . I've noticed that when I take my kiddos outside for short walks, they will "ruffle" themselves often, like birds ruffling their feathers, as they curiously run around inspecting everything. And I only see them doing this when they are outside and on their leashes... . What does this signify or what are my fuzzies doing, does anyone know? Feel free to email me directly - Thanks! Jen, Sasha & Snowy (and the new bizness) Have you hugged your fuzzies today???? [Posted in FML issue 4264]
