I have fostered several ferrets that are not desented and other than the "poofing" they are no different. The females seem to "poof" more than the males, but are just as loving. I have noticed that they seem to "poof" when they are scared. They seem to adjust better in singles than in pares. If you have other ferts. If you have no other ferts than two will do well. However, if you plan on getting more, and the new ones are desented or even not desented, be aware that they will "poof" an awful lot, untill they are used to the other fert. As well as gang up and "poof". If you are not used to the smell, it can take a wile to get used too. Some like it and some do not. It is a very strong musky smell, I do not care for it myself. However, it has never stopped me from fostering and loving them as much as my own. These are only my thoughts, I hope that they have helped. cindy [Posted in FML issue 4239]
