My first ferret(s) were also my first ferret encounter. I first met
ferrets when, after my daughter relentlessly hounded her father and I to
let her take 2 ferrets her friend was "getting rid of" on a trial basis,
we agreed. In they came, Buzz and Woody, a beautiful silvermitt boy and
his sable brother. The previous owner brought them to my house and took
them out of the cage and tried to hand them to me. I was skeptical. Do
they bite? No, no, they were nipped trained, if they try to bite you
flick them in the nose. Well the flicking in the nose part I didn't like
one bit and I picked up the 2 squirming boys that just wanted to get
down. They took up residency in my daughters room for awhile, the first
time we let them out to free roam her room I thought they were evil and
trying to attack everyone<LOL>. Little did I know then that they were
so happy to be out of their cage, they had never gotten out before, that
they were war dancing! I quickly fell in love with ferrets, and
eventually moved them out of my daughters room when I realized Buzz was
sick and that my daughter was being the usual kid, not taking care of
them properly. Buzz has been gone a few years, and sadly, we lost his
brother earlier this year to cancer. But I loved every minute I spent
with them, and they in return loved me back.
