My Lulu does that when I scruff her and clean her ears.  She'll often
scrape at her throat with that same motion...it's like this "GET THE HELL
OUT OF MY EARS" gesture...I think it's some kind of freaky ferret reflex.
I have had her since she was a kit, so there's no abuse in her past.
