Just a funny story for all you fuzzy lovers! (I hope I'm not a 'bad mommy' for allowing my kiddos to indulge in an avacado)? ? ? Learn something new every moment with these loveable furballs! Ever believe that a fuzzy (carnivore-by-nature mind you!) would think that avocados are the greatest of God s creation, next to raisins of course! I found this out quite by accident when I was peeling an avocado last night and happened to drop a piece of the fleshy part on the floor. As usual, my fat cat Sasha waddled (that s her top speed) her plump rump up to the foreign morsel then immediately launched into the ferret war dance. So here I m thinking I had poisoned her by the way she was freaking out and of course I start freaking out as I pick her up to begin the ferret Heimlich maneuver ... but what does SHE do??? She starts licking my fingers as if they were actually edible! I m talking about some HARD lickin ! So then I reasoned that ONE - she has not ingested poison and TWO - she actually likes the avocado! But just to be sure I take another small piece and mash it up on a plate, mix it with water to form a paste and then heat it for a few seconds in the microwave. Sure enough, Sasha is gobbling down the paste without even breathing (she does that sometimes when she really likes a particular kind of food and I have to watch her to make sure she doesn t choke). By then Sasha has summoned Snowball with some silent code or war cry that I m sure sounded something like fantastic eatin over here make haste to the kitchen, Slim! because next thing I know Snowball is literally running down the hallway at break-neck speed (for him this is a feat worth seeing because usually he just does his this lop-sided skip/gallop thing, which makes him look like an old grandpa). So I watch them both devour the green mushy stuff as I make a mental note to NOT freak out when I see it again on the other end (and think it s the green slime!") Highlight of my day... Guess you just had to be there, right? Who knew ???? Peace and blessings, Jen Sasha & Snowy still going strong . . . [log in to unmask] [Posted in FML issue 4174]
