I know the first rule of thumb is when in doubt seek a vet. Unfortunately where I live my vets are not the smartest when it comes to ferrets. But that is another story. I need some advice. about 2 months ago I brought 2 ferrets into my home that were not being well taken care of. The male husky as all can be was a pushy boy who apparently did not let the girl eat so needless to say the original person who rescued them weighed the little girl in at under a pound. However she gained weight and still has since in my care. Her last visit, end of May, she weighed 2 1/2 lbs. She looks bigger! But she seems very healthy according to vet. It is her stools and behavior. They are "birdseedy" and have been for awhile. Now where she poops is in a old cage with no litter of any sort and I am not sure if this the reason but when she is done there is no formation to her poops they are smeared all over but Is it the result of her peeing on it? She eats and sleeps but is very anti social with the others. She prefers me and me alone. She follows me like a lost puppy. I play with her but other times if I do not see her I will catch her pouting at my feet. So I pick her up and give her some love and try to play but she moves away from me a bit and pouts. I try to play again she moves a away from me and the who body goes down in pout mode. What is this all about?? She does it to me all the time. I wish I knew what to do for her. I am hoping it is pouting and not her being in pain??? Another thing is I have been told she is only about a year and a half but she just seems much older. How can I tell what her age is?? She climbs the couch well and she actually acted like a ferret last night for awhile. But very rarely will she play with the other ferrets. My original 2 have excepted her but there were some fights with her. So wonder if she holds a grudge now or just fears she will get beat up. Her brother (the one who bullied her) will play with her but can also get nasty with her but she always picks him to play when she is in the mood. I fear something may be wrong but these vets up here just seem to blow all my questions off. So I wanted to get some advice so if something may be wrong I can be more specific in requesting care for her. I am also wondering about her teeth. Her fangs on the very tip are slightly yellow can this be tartar? Apparently the vet thinks so but on the tips of her teeth???? Thank you for anyone's advise.
