Saturday's Chronicle had a story about the life of a Department of Fish and Game Warden. The article explained how the agency is under staffed, among the lowest paid, and constantly under fire from business and the public. It talked about how over stretched wardens are and how many miles of California go unpatroled. Then they mentioned how DFG is responsible for confiscating exotic pets such as ferrets and monkeys. It also mentions how wardens pose undercover to break up illegal animals sellers and importers. I'm all for DFG confiscating Cobra's (however it is legal to own native rattlesnakes in California as pets, you don't need a license to capture them or keep them) but really ferrets? Especially altered ferrets. [Posted in FML issue 4159]
