Thursday morning my beautiful black mitt roan, Rocky, will be having adrenal surgery and possibly a spleenectomy. He is in great hands. Please keep him in your thoughts and say a prayer for him, he's such a wonderful, older boy. I have not posted because there has been a lot of problems going on with my older ferrets. 3, I have had since kits and are now over six years old with complications from adrenal disease, etc. May 6th, I had to have Foxy put to sleep, which was the hardest thing to do. He had just turned 6 years old. I have never done that before. He was such a sweet silver mitt. He would lick and clean his brothers, Sammy and Bear all the time and come lick and clean me or vice versa. I could not post because it just hurts too much as it still does just to write this. Sammy was just diagnosed with lymphoma and does not have a lot of time left, though he is holding his own and getting around and eating just fine. His brother Bear who has heart disease, lung disease, adrenal disease and insolinoma, is still hanging in there and doing rather well ! He amazes me, though he does not " talk" like he used to. Another one of my oldies, Bandit 2, also has lymphoma, which is now in his lungs (nodules). He is still eating, not in pain and has a quality of life. Then there is Sampson, another silver mitt who looked like Foxy, the only one left out of 3 that I adopted about 4 years ago. He was just diagnosed with heart disease. It has been hard being hit with all this news and I know I am going to lose most of these guys this year. They are all spoiled with homemade chicken soup 2x daily and of course they get their prescribed meds with a dose of ferretone which they all love. This month has been horrible, for it was the month that I lost my favorite boy a year ago May 10th a few hours after surgery. Mylo died in my arms and it feels like it was yesterday. My friend Diddy, had just lost her longtime companion, Gizmo the cat after 19 years due to cancer, just a few days ago. My dad died May 4th of 1997. My next door neighbor, I just found out, has breast cancer and it is serious. She was released from the hospital last night after being rushed in last week. She almost died. I am so scared for her. This has been a horrible month and I just pray that she will make it and be okay and also that Rocky will do just fine in surgery and change this horrible month for me. My sincere condolences to those who have sick furkids or have lost them. I am so very sorry. Eleanor Mead [Posted in FML issue 4155]
