The other day I posted about my ferret, Benji, who had the extremely high temperature. He is now home with us and is being given Clavimox. He is eating and drinking, still very lethargic and it is difficult for him to get around. The vet said he is anemic because of his low red blood cell count, and he has a white blood cell count of 12,000...normal is 6,000. For now we are treating this as an infection, but the vet did say that his mediastinum appeared to be enlarged. He returns to the vet Saturday to see if the medicine is helping, and might have an ultrasound to see if he could possibly have a tumor. His temperature is back to normal and he spent yesterday hooked up to a catheter being given fluids. It just happened so suddenly...one day he was running around, dancing and being his lovable self, and the next day he couldn't even walk or pick his head up. Please keep Benji in your prayers. I've had a few suggestions that perhaps he has lymphosarcoma so I am researching more on that. Any advice is greatly welcomed and appreciated. Thanks so much. Erica [Posted in FML issue 4035]
