Hello, I just received the blood work for Fangs. A 7 year old I am working with. Here's the blood work values that had problems in accordance with the reference range: Vet Screen Results Reference Range Units Glucose 76 (low) 0-120 mg/dL Urea Nitrogen 45 (high) 10-33 mg/dL Total Protein 4.2 (low) 0.2-0.8 mg/dL Albumin 1.3 (low) 2.4-4.5 g/dL Calcium 7.2 (low) 7.7-11.0 mg/dL Phosphorus 3.9 (low) 4.2-8.5 mg/dL Chloride 133 (high) 90-110 mEq/L Albumin/Globulin Ratio 0.4(low) 1.0-2.3 Complete Blood Count Results Reference Range Units Hemoglobin 9.3 (low) 13.0-18.0 g/dl Hematocrit 32.0 (low) 43.0-55.0 % WBC 8.8 (high) 2.5-8.0 10^3/UL RBC 5.46 (low) 6.5-11.00 10^6/UL Platelet Count 195 (low) 300-700 10^3/UL Platelet Estimate Decreased Differential Absolute % Neutrophils 6248 71 Bands 0 0 Lymphocytes 2112 24 Monocytes 440 5 Eosinophils 0 0 Basolphils 0 0 With this type of blood values what decisions would anyone make? Some one wrote this yesterday: >It really distressed me to see such negative things said about Bob C. >by some of the readers here. As Roger and BIG said, Bob is very well >capable of defending himself. But...Why should he have to 'defend' >himself in the first place? He said nothing that needs defending. >Debate the man if you like...he loves to debate, and loves to see all >sides and opinions of an issue. But...don't slam him....It only shows >the smallness of your minds. I am a social work major. I am not sure if now at a some-what mature age if I am becoming sensitive to social issues or the fact that I attended a wonderful AIDS101 class yesterday. But the last statement, "It only shows the smallness of your minds" really bothered me this morning. "Slam or slamming" or "flame or flamming" are what people preceive. What may be a slam to you maynot be to me. That kind of thing. I have not met the people who are in this issue.. Only through the fml here. I would say probably for the most part we are adults with responsibilities. One thing, we have ferrets and they are a big responsibility. So minds can't be small for that task. But, opinions can be different. Yes, I could have kept right on skipping over the info. But, that caught my eye. When this is over, this will be another issue that will die out and something else will come in. I hope I have never done that to someone on other than voiced an opinion although it may have been strong. But, not referenced people thinking. If I have I truely apologize..... I would love any info anyone can assist me with concerning this ferret. Thank you for any input, Benita [Posted in FML issue 3949]
