Is there an established treatment for allergies in ferrets? >I'd like Phoebe to enjoy her new home. Hi Kelly ~ In my experience here on the farm I can say yes animals do get allergies. The most common ones I see occur in Labradore dogs, but our barn cats have a time. Your ferret can be allergic to many of the molds that are common to big old houses. One of the herbs we use for allergies is called "Stinging nettle" or "nettle". As it is dried the stinging goes away. This is an herb that many cook and eat like spinach. Cooking also destroys the stinging. You can find it in a health food store. Add a drop a day to the food, changing the food each day with a new drop. Do not get the non-alcoholic if your ferret has insulemia, because it is made in a sugar-base of glycerine. This will work for dust and outside alleregins, but to be truthful I do not know about mold.
