I would like to invite everyone in the Chicagoland area to the Greater Chicago Ferret Association (GCFA) annual Footwork for Ferrets Walk-a-thon and picnic. The walk-a-thon will take place Saturday, September 14, 2002 at 10:00am, rain or shine. The 5K walk follows a very nice trail through the woods, shaded by nature s canopy. The location is in Bemis Woods, grove #7 which is in Western Springs, IL. You can access the grove from Ogden Ave, which is near the intersection of Ogden Ave. and Wolf Rd. The grove is East of the Illinois Tollroad 294 and West of Wolf road. Look for the GCFA signs. They will lead you to the picnic site where the walk-a-thon will start. If you cannot walk yourself, you can sponsor someone else. All the ferrets at the shelter will be very happy for your support. If you can t participate in "Footwork for Ferrets" please plan on attending the picnic. The picnic commences right after the walk has ended, which is usually around 11:30am. GCFA will supply roasted/buttered corn and juicy watermelon. You need to bring your favorite barbeque item, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken, or steak. There will be a large grill provided and Norm Stilson the shelter director is happy to play "cook of the day", or you can cook your own. If you can bring a dish to be passed around, that would be very welcome, but not necessary. The picnic usually lasts until we are too full of food and had enough fun and exercise for the day. Please feel free to come at anytime during the day. If you bring your ferrets, please remember that the mosquitoes are very hungry. Make sure you have a cage for your ferrets, fresh water, food and a litter box available. Please stop by and share your fuzzie stories and eat some corn. Hope to see you there. Kisses and hugs to all fuzzies they leave as too soon. Norine [Posted in FML issue 3904]
