Jean, OUCH! That does not give me much to go on and some of the hints don't help at all. Start with these and link from them. http://geocities.com/sukieslist (which I badly need to update since some addies no longer work -- including the FHL one since the move, and one of the link ones was bought by a porn place.) http://www.smartgroups.com/groups/ferrethealth http://fhl.sonic-weasel.org/ http://www.miamiferret.org/fhc http://www.afip.org/ferrets/index.html (ferret pathology and health care site by vet who is world expert on several things including ECE) http://home.att.net/~hhoefer/ (many common problems on site incl. blockage info, by vet) http://www.lbah.com/Ferrets/ferret_diseases.htm (many common problems on site and spaying info from vets) http://www.bradleyhills.com/ (vet page with very detailed adrenal and insulinoma info when the info is accessible) http://www.ferret-universe.com/health/adv.html#test http://www.geocities.com/russiansmom/ http://www.geocities.com/wolfysluv/adv-straight.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/advferret/ We have used a Cuisinart food scale for the last 10 years or so. It cost something like $30 when we got it, and consistently is almost exactly the same as the vet's scales in results. How often we weight depends on if there is a health reason or change causing us to weigh more often than every month, couple of months, or so. Rubbing alcohol is one of the poisonous ones if taken orally. One of the things that used to happen in war was that holes would be made in the bottoms of bottle that normally help real drinkable stuff, then bad forms would be added. The military personnel who drank those and survived tended to wind up blind. You can see if the odor after it has evaporated will be useful. Personally, on those "accident" areas I'd go with "Out Spot Go" which the Ferret Store carries at http://www.theferretstore.com It's the most successful stuff I've found. It does take longer to evaporate than some alternatives, though. OH, just couple of notes for all on the FML: Steve and I live in the Ridge and Swamp ecological region of NJ not too far from the Great Swamp National Nature Preserve and you should see it when it is full of flowers and see all the wildlife there, and lists that provide health info aren't "cold" by definition since it takes a lot of work to gently provide needed information and that is very warm caring. I think that some folks are getting a bit carried away with their word choices recently. 10 deep and slow breaths, please! Then re-read and re-write. >actually the slowness of scrolling is less likely a server issue and >more likely an issue with the computer itself Learn something every day! (Steve's 80 year old mom just got herself a new i-mac and is having the time of her life right now writing, playing, using Sherlock to look up addresses and movies and get maps to the locations on the same screen, using Watson to check the tv and weather, and all with true neck and back comfort now and comfy eyes for a change, too. This week she plans to rent DVDs to play on it. It is so good hearing her so happy; that cheers us greatly.) [Posted in FML issue 3909]
