>What has to be done is so simple, so why is it so complicated? >Commercial sales of animals as pets must be stopped. What do we have >to do to make this happen? Anybody? > >Kim at SUMS Hi Everyone, Blessings to those with sick or Bridge bound babies. May strength be yours. I've followed the various posts at various times about getting Petco to stop selling animals. I've heard the arguments for years from PETA about how nothing should be caged and all things should be free. And I know I'm probably about to open myself up for nuclear flames here but...... a few things to consider. One and foremost, none of us would have the priviledge of sharing our lives, love, and homes with these beautiful fuzzballs if they weren't sold as pets in the first place. I realize that the sell of any companion animals opens up the possibility of the person or persons who own the pet to mistreat it. Or abandon it. Must we all suffer because of these few morons? I think not. IMO the majority of pet owners are good hearted responsible people who treasure the lives that are in their keep. They take their commitment serious. I've had my parrot Smokey for almost 29 years now. I've known bird owners who have had their keeps for 50 plus years. Now that's a commitment. And I think most people provided with some education do all they can to care for their charges. We can't let the minority of idiot animal owners push us to the point of wanting to ban pet sales. We'd be cutting off our nose to spite our face. Just some thoughts. Regards, Hawk & Patrick, Salem, Faye, Bandit, Bowser and Bailey the ferts Pyewacket the cat and Smokey the African Grey and introducing Azriel the grey haired, green eyed kitten. Blessings to all animals great and small and those of us who love and adore them. [Posted in FML issue 3859]
