Spirit, the albino ferret, is gone. But his spirit lives on. His spirit lives on in the people who dropped whatever they were doing to help transport over 200 ferrets out of Utah at a time when most of our country was focused on the awful events of 9/11. His spirit lives on in everyone who helped feed and water them, clean cages, trim nails, medicate, force feed, administer fluids and drive to the vets. His spirit lives on in everyone who donated money, food and supplies to care for these neglected animals. His spirit lives on in each person who found room in their homes and hearts for one of these special souls. His spirit lives on in the hearts of everyone who wept when one of the Utah ferrets passed over the rainbow bridge. His spirit lives on in every shelter mom or dad who struggled valiantly to keep a desperately sick ferret alive. His spirit lives on in every person who has worked to strengthen animal cruelty laws. His spirit lives on in everyone who has contacted Utah officials to stop this woman from allowing more animals to suffer. His spirit lives on in all of us. He will not be forgotten.
